January 10, 2021: The Belgian Cyclo-cross Championships for elite riders took place in Meulebeke. Due to COVID-19 measures, this championship naturally proceeded without fans and under very strict safety regulations. "Since the start of the cyclo-cross season, we haven't seen any supporters along the course. Thanks to Beobank and 1st DVision, that finally changed."

We were approached by Beobank to set up a fan activation at the Belgian Cyclo-cross Championships in Meulebeke, and our entire team put their heads together. After a solid brainstorming session, all ideas were meticulously detailed and presented to Beobank. We quickly received a "GO" and got to work.

Beobank has given remote cheering a whole new dimension. We advised them to build a true "People’s Stand" at the Belgian Championships in Meulebeke. The riders would no longer feel alone in the field. Instead, fans could once again cheer them on to victory through audio clips, written fan slogans, and life-sized cutouts of their cheering faces.

To reinforce our concept, we designed 3D visuals of the People’s Stand, collaborating with a professional designer to do so. We always deliver quality; in both the pre-production and production phases, every possible resource is utilized to ensure a successful end result.

By rolling out an online platform where fans could upload their personal slogans, audio clips, and photos, we were able to create the designs for the life-sized supporters and the slogans for the LED boarding on the People's Stand.

Of course, we didn't just create the designs; we were also responsible for the logistical side of the activation.

The next step was putting theory into practice. Fitting the puzzle pieces together is always the most rewarding part of any activation; you see the designs truly come to life. Our team mounted the panels onto the grandstand. To finish it off, the stand itself was branded with specially designed banners.

Together with our loyal partners, we built a People's Stand that was truly second to none.

Here is the breakdown:

  • 70 life-sized supporters printed on corrugated plastic (channel plate)
  • 60 slogans displayed on the LED boarding
  • 10 audio clips played through speakers
  • 2 three-story grandstands
  • 27 meters of LED boarding
  • 10 banners
  • 6 flags
  • 15 mesh banners
  • 2 inflatable tubes
  • 1 easy-up tent for the control room/production

Due to the great success and the playful visibility, Beobank decided to roll out this activation again at the Cyclo-cross World Championships in Ostend. There, the riders were once again able to enjoy the presence of "virtual" fans.

As the icing on the cake, all participants in the campaign will have their life-sized selves delivered right to their doorstep.
